Weekend at the Coast

This weekend I travelled to the south coast of England to celebrate the birthday of my friend Sarita.

Sarita on Brownsea Island

We visited the city of Bournemouth and the town Poole. They are separated by miles of sandy beaches. This is one of the beaches in Bournemouth.

From Poole we caught the ferry Brownsea Island. It is a beautiful island with lovely views from the cliff tops.

My favourite was Branksome Chine Beach. If it wasn’t for the fierce winds it would have been perfect for some sun bathing.

Are the flying things birds? Or kites.

Actually there are both…there is a bird in the foreground, and about three kite surfers in the background. This area is very popular with kite surfers

The kite surfing is popular here too, especially on Moreton Island.
Last time we were there we saw some English tourists and they were bird watching complete with book and binoculars ,and the sea eagles and honeyeaters and other birds of the island put on a good show of song and antics for them.
I never see any home grown Aussies bird watching though. Too busy fishing or snorkelling.
