Park Wood

Last Sunday 3rd May we took a short drive outside of Canterbury to walk in the woods whilst Bluebells were blossoming.

Park Wood is about 1.5 miles from the tiny village of Chilham. It’s a low key site and you would easily drive past with noticing unless you had prior knowledge. Fortunately Emily’s housemate Barbara was kind enough to drive us there.

It’s a lovely small wood to walk around and apparently a good representation of the ancient woodlands of Kent.

After the woods we drove to Chilham for tea. When I was standing in the market square it was easily to imagine village life here hundreds of years ago. The town has neat little tudor homes, a castle, church, and two pubs, and a small school. I also read it was the location for some of the new TV series Emma, along with a number of other films/TV shows in the past.

It was too much effort for me to move all the cars out of the market square so this is the best photo I have!

This is one place you will have to take us if we ever visit. It looks very Elizabethan. hehe

In 50 years time the houses will still be there, but there will be more interest in the quaint vintage transportation in the photo.
